Raw swordtip squid is a fish caught by lantern harpooning, requiring level 52 Fishing alongside a lantern and harpoon. With lantern fishing spots exclusive to certain islands at sea, the minimum Sailing level to catch them is 47, the level required to dock at the Onyx Crest.

Raw swordtip squid can be crushed with a pestle and mortar into squid paste, an ingredient used to make haemostatic dressings. At level 56 Cooking, it can also be cooked to make swordtip squid that heals 15 Hitpoints each.

Like most raw fish, it can also be cut with a regular knife or chum facility to create fish offcuts to use as bait for barbarian fishing and deep sea trawling. Each cutting action will also give a 1/1,024 chance^[1] of obtaining a squid beak, which is used to create wooden blowpipes. While using a chum facility, it is possible to obtain multiple beaks in one cutting action, depending on which chum facility is used, though the rate per action remains 1/1,024 regardless of how many squid are processed.
