Rubium rocks are rocks found in the Charred Dungeon, requiring level 60 Sailing to access. They can be mined at level 48 Mining to produce stackable rubium splinters and 30 Mining XP.

The rocks yield significantly more experience per hour than the nearby rubium deposits, but comparable rubium splinters, and require much more attention and effort than the deposits.

An ornery dwarf named Kragin mines rubium rocks, moving between them every few seconds or when they are depleted by a player. Kragin does not deplete the rocks.

Experience rates

The following table shows the approximate rates to receive rubium splinters and Mining experience. Mining enhancers and the prospector kit can increase the numbers beyond what is shown. For example, wearing the full prospector kit along with a charged celestial ring and Varrock armour 2 can increase both XP and splinter yield by around 20%. 99 Mining includes the Mining skillcape, Dragon Pickaxe and Varrock armour.

Mining Lvl Splinters/hr XP/hr
48 1300 39,000
61 1400 42,000

The rocks produce one rubium splinter on every successful mining attempt (or two at level 72+ Mining), though more can be gained using special equipment. They are guaranteed to yield at least two splinters before depleting. After the first splinter is mined (by any player), there is approximately a 1/6 chance on each subsequent splinter mined (by any player) that the rock will deplete. The average yield before the rocks deplete is therefore 7 rubium splinters.

The Varrock armour 2, Mining cape, and celestial ring/signet all work on these rocks. Each splinter that is combusted by the infernal pickaxe grants approximately 2 Smithing XP.

Pre-roll

The mining gem drop table has a 1/256 chance to roll on every mining attempt;[1] if the player is wearing a charged amulet of glory, amulet of glory (t), or amulet of eternal glory, the probability increases to 1/64.2.[2][3] If the table successfully rolls, the player may receive an uncut gem or nothing, and in either case can not receive an ore.[4] This neither depletes the rock nor grants Mining experience. The rates shown are for every mining attempt.
