A big bass is an abnormally large bass caught while fishing at any big net/harpoon fishing spot, requiring 46 Fishing to catch. Players have a 1/1,000 to receive a big bass in place of a raw bass;^[1] catching one results in the game message You catch an enormous bass! instead of the usual You catch a raw bass. If fishing with a fish barrel, a big bass will be placed into the inventory.^[2] Additionally, big bass cannot be cooked.

It can be stuffed at the taxidermist in Canifis by using the item on her and paying 1,000 coins, returning a stuffed big bass. When players take it to her, she will tell players "That's a mighty fine sea bass you've caught there." Once stuffed, it can be mounted at an oak, teak or mahogany display within the skill hall in a player-owned house, granting 31 Construction and 151 Fishing experience.

The benefits of Rada's blessing and spirit flakes will cause two big basses to be caught at once if either item activates.^[3] The extra big bass will not be counted in the collection log if this happens.

Item sources

The drop rate is 1/1,000 every time a raw bass is caught. The drop rate of raw bass itself varies with Fishing level, so a single figure cannot be quoted.

For example, at level 75 Fishing, the chance to catch a bass at a big net fishing spot is 1/8. Therefore, for each catch at a big net fishing spot, the chance to catch a big bass is 1/8,000.
