A raw dark crab is a members-only fish found in the Wilderness. Dark crabs require a Fishing level of at least 85 and give 130 Fishing experience per catch. A lobster pot is used to catch dark crabs, along with dark fishing bait. Dark fishing bait can be obtained as a drop from various monsters in the Wilderness or bought from other players at the Grand Exchange.

They require a Cooking level of at least 90 to cook and give 215 Cooking experience per fish. It is advised to cook raw dark crabs at the Hosidius Kitchen due to their high burn rate, as they are still possible to burn even at 99 Cooking. Alternatively, wearing a Cooking cape will ensure 100% cook-success rate due to its perk.

Completion of the Elite Wilderness Diary greatly increases the catch rate of these fish, from 16% to 34% at 99 Fishing -- a 112.5% increase, more than doubling the base rate.^[1] As such, it is highly recommended that players complete the Elite diary prior to fishing dark crabs. If staying in the area for extended trips, these fish and any other items can be turned into banknotes using Piles in the Resource Area for a fee of 50 coins per item.

Dark Crab fishing spots in the Resource Area are some of the few fishing spots in Gielinor that do not relocate and can be fished in perpetuity, encouraging low-effort skill training. However, this method of training is ill-advised, as player killers may enter the Resource Area to catch fishers off-guard, despite the killer being unable to retrieve any of the catch due to being in the Wilderness. However, if a player utilizes the Fishing Barrel and it is kept on death, any fish stored in the barrel will be kept. Players also may utilize the Looting Bag to store their raw or cooked crabs for very low risk and doubling their inventory without utilizing Piles, where both the bag and crabs within will be consumed if the player is killed.
