A huge halibut is an abnormally large halibut caught while rod fishing or trawling at a halibut, shimmering, or glistening shoal. Upon a successful roll for a catch, players or crewmates have a 1/4,000 chance to obtain one from a halibut shoal, an effective 1/20,000 chance from a shimmering shoal, and an effective 1/5,000 chance from a glistening shoal.

Catching one results in the game message You catch a huge halibut! instead of the usual You catch a halibut!. If a crewmate catches it, the game message will show Jolly Jim catches a huge halibut! for example.

It can be stuffed at the taxidermist in Canifis by using the item on her and paying 5,500 coins, returning a stuffed huge halibut. Once stuffed, it can be mounted at a mahogany display within the skill hall in a player-owned house, granting 74 Construction and 354 Fishing experience.

When obtained while trawling, the collection log entry will be completed, even if the player does not collect the huge halibut from their trawling net.
