Superior dragon bones are obtained as a guaranteed drop from killing Vorkath and as an uncommon drop from killing frost dragons. They can be crushed with a pestle and mortar to create crushed superior dragon bones, which is a secondary ingredient in super antifire potions, requiring level 92 Herblore to create.
Unlike other types of bones, superior dragon bones require a Prayer level of 70 (unboostable) to use, and give 150 Prayer experience when buried. This can be increased by offering the bones in different ways:
- 450 XP when casting Sinister Offering.
- 450 XP when offered at the sacred bone burner after the appropriate faith level has been achieved.
- 525 XP when offered at a gilded altar with two burners lit.
- 600 XP when offered at the Ectofuntus in the form of superior dragon bonemeal.
- 605 XP when blessed and broken down into blessed bone shards and offered at the libation bowl, or 726 XP when offered with a jug of blessed sunfire wine. Virilis outside the altar will exchange noted bones for 10 coins each.
- 1050 XP on average when offered at the Chaos Temple in the Wilderness. Each offering gives 525 XP, which is the same as the gilded altars with two burners lit, but with an additional 50% chance to not consume the bones.
Superior dragon bones provide the most Prayer experience of any bone in the game, but they are very expensive, making them the top-tier choice for efficient training when cost is not a concern. When used at a gilded altar, they require 37.35 coins per experience, while regular dragon bones use 13.19 coins per experience. As such, the most economical use is as a secondary for making super antifire potions.

Trivia
- Superior dragon bones are the only type of bones that require a Prayer level to be used.
- Upon release, adamant and rune dragons had a 1/5 and 1/3 chance, respectively, of their dragon bones drop being replaced by superior dragon bones. This was removed from their drop table in an update on 25 January 2018 as part of a balancing change.
- Prior to the release of the Sailing skill, these bones could only be obtained via killing Vorkath after completion of Dragon Slayer II. Dragon Slayer II is still required to create super antifire potions and extended super antifires, even if the bones are acquired from another source.
