Riyl remains are an item found and used in the Shades of Mort'ton minigame. To obtain these remains, the player must kill riyl shades, located behind a solid steel door in the Shade Catacombs.
To burn the riyl remains, the player needs willow pyre logs or better and a tinderbox. First place the pyre logs on a funeral pyre, followed by the riyl remains, then light the pyre. This will grant the player Firemaking and Prayer experience (see table). Once burned, a steel or black shade key, or some coins, will appear next to the pyre. The keys can be used to either enter the catacombs or open the corresponding coloured doors to chests containing valuable items.
Coins and keys dropped by cremating these remains will not despawn for five minutes, and cannot be taken by other players during this time. When dropped by the player, they will despawn and become visible to others at the normal rate.
