Redwood pyre logs are created by using a sacred oil(4) on redwood logs, granting 20 Firemaking experience. They are used during the Shades of Mort'ton minigame to cremate the remains of all shades, and are among the only two types of pyre logs (alongside rosewood pyre logs) that can be used to cremate Urium remains. They require level 95 Firemaking to ignite, and grant 500 Firemaking experience when used to cremate a shade (750 with Morytania Diary 4 complete).

Players may use the pyre logs, along with a set of shade remains (Loar, Phrin, Riyl, Asyn, Fiyr or Urium), on one of the numerous funeral pyres located to the south and to the west of Mort'ton's centre. The pyre can then be lit using a tinderbox, which releases the shade and rewards Firemaking and Prayer experience, as well as some coins or a key. The type of key rewarded solely depends on the type of remains that are cremated, and do not depend on the logs used.
