Dragon bones are bones dropped by most adult dragons, which give 72 Prayer experience when buried. This can be increased by offering the bones in different ways:
- 216 XP when casting Sinister Offering.
- 216 XP when offered at the sacred bone burner after the appropriate faith level has been achieved.
- 252 XP when offered at a gilded altar with two burners lit.
- 288 XP when offered at the Ectofuntus in the form of dragon bonemeal.
- 290 XP when blessed and broken down into blessed bone shards and offered at the libation bowl, or 348 XP when offered with a jug of blessed sunfire wine. Virilis outside the altar will exchange noted bones for 10 coins each.
- 504 XP on average when offered at the Chaos Temple in the Wilderness. Each offering gives 252 XP, which is the same as the gilded altars with two burners lit, but providing a 50% chance to not consume the bones.
The relative ease of collecting dragon bones, combined with the amount of experience earned from them, makes them widely viewed as a fast, cost-effective way to train Prayer.
A set of dragon bones is required for the Watchtower quest.

Trivia
- In RuneScape Classic, Elvarg dropped dragon bones that free-to-play players could Telegrab once they defeated her. These bones were labelled as members object and could not be used unless the player was a member.
