Brutal blue dragons are a tougher version of blue dragons and can be killed as an alternative for a blue dragon Slayer task. They can be found in the Catacombs of Kourend and Ruins of Tapoyauik.

Players can access the dragons by running west through the Catacombs of Kourend or alternatively, use the hole found in Lovakengj to take them there immediately (unlocking this shortcut requires climbing up the vine from inside the catacombs first). They can also be found in the Ruins of Tapoyauik, easily accessed by using the pendant of ates after completion of The Heart of Darkness and activating the obelisk outside the ruins.

Like all brutal dragons, they use Melee, Magic and long-range dragonfire. Using both Protect from Magic and an antifire potion will completely protect players from their dragonfire and magic attacks, and they can be safespotted this way if not standing within melee range.

29 May 2024 (Update)	Brutal blue dragons now have a 50% elemental weakness to water spells. Brutal blue dragon's heavy Ranged defence has been lowered from 50 to 15. Brutal blue dragon's stab defence has been lowered from 50 to 10.
17 May 2023 (Update \| poll)	Scaly blue dragonhide was added as a tertiary drop to the drop table with a rate of 1/33.
