Runite ore can be mined at level 85 Mining providing 125 Mining experience. After runite rocks are mined, it will take twelve minutes until it reappears. Runite ore is used with eight coal to smelt runite bars. Smelting a runite bar gives 50 Smithing experience.

Wearing expert mining gloves while mining a runite rock grants a guaranteed extra gather before depleting.

At 99 mining, runite ore has a 19/256 chance of depletion every 3 ticks (1.8 seconds), when using a rune pickaxe. In the case of a rune pickaxe, the expected amount of time for success is 256/19 * 3 ticks, roughly 24.25 seconds.
