Varrock armour 1 is a reward from completing the easy Varrock Diary. The armour is received from Toby in Varrock and can be retrieved from him for free if lost. The general stats of Varrock armour 1 are the same as a steel platebody, apart from +5 higher relative ranged attack (-10 vs. -15) and a weight of only 1 kg. The item has no Defence requirement, and can be re-obtained for free. This makes it a desirable option for 1 Defence Pures (particularly when using Melee) and lower level Abyss runecrafters. Unlike most platebodies, it does not interfere with Ava's devices.

• 10% chance of mining 2 ores at once up to and including gold (with some exceptions), granting experience for both ores mined.
  • Toby claims the armour will allow "mining two ores at once up to coal" but he is wrong.
• 10% chance of smelting 2 bars at once up to and including steel when using the Edgeville furnace.
