The prescription goggles are a piece of the alchemist's outfit purchased from the Mixology Rewards shop with 8,600 Mox resin, 7,000 Aga resin, and 9,350 Lye resin, which are earned from participating in the Mastering Mixology minigame. The goggles can be cosmetically changed between a focused and unfocused variant when in the inventory.

When worn, the goggles give a 10% chance to save a secondary ingredient when mixing most potions, reducing the cost of each potion by 1/9th of a secondary on average: 90 secondaries will on average be sufficient to mix 100 potions. As saved ingredients may be used in subsequent potions, the effect compounds on itself, making each secondary worth ~1.111 potions.

With stackable secondaries, the chance to trigger only occurs once per potion, saving a secondary for each dose the potion has (up to 4 equivalents for a 4-dose potion); no in-game text is displayed when secondaries are saved. When gaining an extra potion dose using a charged alchemist's amulet, you do not consume an equivalent of secondary for the extra dose. For example, when creating Anti-venom by combining Antidote++ with Zulrah's scales at 5 per dose, creating 4-dose potions will always save 20 scales when the Goggles proc. If creating 3-dose potions to take advantage of the Alchemist's amulet, the Goggles will always save 15 scales.

When making weapon poison(++), both nightshade and poison ivy berries can be saved, and when making haemostatic dressings both squid paste and cotton yarn can be saved. Additionally, the goggles can save caviar and roe when mixing barbarian potions, toadflax when mixing antidote+ (unf), irit when mixing antidote++ (unf), and torstols/torstol potions when mixing super combat potions or anti-venom+.

The goggles do not save crystal dust when mixing divine potions or ashes when making serum 207.

They can be sold back to the Mixology Rewards shop for 3,440 mox resin, 2,800 aga resin, and 3,740 lye resin.

This item can be stored in the armour case of a costume room, as part of the Alchemist's outfit set. Ultimate Ironmen will be unable to retrieve individual pieces until the full set is stored.
