The horn of plenty is an off-hand item obtained as a drop from gryphons. Requiring level 50 Hunter to equip, the horn provides a passive invisible +2 boost to the Hunter skill. Upon equipping the horn, the player will blow the horn; this can be repeated by selecting the "Blow" option in the Worn Equipment tab.

A player blows the horn of plenty.

The horn can be charged with up to 20,000 gryphon feathers, each providing one charge. The horn can be uncharged at any time, which returns any unused feathers. When charged, the invisible Hunter boost is increased from +2 to +4, consuming a charge every 25 catches. Additionally, the charged horn has a 1/10 chance to double a Hunter catch (without additional experience), consuming an additional charge whenever this occurs. This effect can be toggled on and off. This doubling effect does not work on implings, nor does it work for aerial fishing or falconry as the horn needs to be equipped to receive its effects. Double hunter catches from the horn do not count towards the dry-protection on Hunters' Rumours.

As the horn provides an invisible Hunter boost, you cannot use the horn to boost for something you do not have the Hunter level for; the invisible boost only increases the player's success rates when hunting.

Charges are not lost if you die to another player in the Wilderness, assuming the item is protected on death.

Changes

Date Changes
15 July 2026
(Update)

The horn of plenty's double catch effect now works correctly when hunting stymphikes.

13 May 2026
(Update)
  • Toggling double catches off now correctly applies the invisible Hunter boost.
  • Hunter animals that always trigger the Horn of Plenty's double catch - such as Tecu salamanders - will no longer trigger it if the double catch toggle is off.
  • Toggling double catches off will no longer consume charges as if it is on and not giving double loot.
  • Horn of Plenty now consumes a charge every 25 catches rather than having a 1/25 chance to consume it. Also, double catches will consume only one charge as mentioned above.
  • The Horn of Plenty’s double catch effect now works with crab traps, including Red, Blue, and Rainbow crabs.
25 February 2026
(Update)

A charged Horn of Plenty is now prioritised higher for protection on death, reflecting the guide price of the uncharged one.

14 January 2026
(Update)

The horn of plenty can now be stored in the huntsman's kit.
