The black pickaxe is a pickaxe that mines on a 5-tick cycle, 1-tick faster than the steel pickaxe and the same speed as the mithril pickaxe. It is a possible reward from beginner and easy Treasure Trails. This item can be stored in the treasure chest of a costume room, provided that the interface of the corresponding clue tier is opened before attempting to store the item. Alternatively, the item can be used on the opened treasure chest to insert it without viewing the interface.

Players need 10 Attack to wield the pickaxe and 11 Mining to mine with it.

It is the lightest pickaxe, making it the best for activities that require running, such as questing and training Runecraft through the Abyss or Dense Essence Mining.
