The moonlight moth is a creature found in Neypotzli, in the basement of the Hunter Guild, in the Ruins of Tapoyauik, and in the Tonali Cavern. Players can capture them with the Hunter skill at level 75 by using a butterfly net and jar. Players with level 85 Hunter can catch moonlight moths barehanded. Moonlight moths may be assigned as a hunter's rumour task starting at level 85 by Guild Hunters Gilman, Aco, or Wolf. There are a few variants of the moonlight moths in Neypotzli, only one of which can be caught.

Releasing a jarred moonlight moth or catching a moonlight moth without a jar restores 22 prayer points. In a multi-combat zone, a jarred moonlight moth may be used on another player to share the effect with them and up to three players within a 5x5 area of the target. Players must have Accept Aid toggled on to receive the effect.

Within Neypotzli, moonlight grubs (the larval stage of the moths) can be found on grubby saplings in the caverns.
