The snowy knight is a butterfly that can be captured using a butterfly net with a Hunter level of 35, granting 44 Hunter experience. Players with level 45 Hunter can catch them barehanded. Snowy knights may be assigned as a hunters' rumour task by Huntmaster Gilman or Guild Hunter Ornus.

When released from a butterfly jar, or captured without a jar, snowy knights will heal the player by 15 hitpoints. Captured snowy knights may be used in multicombat areas to share the healing with up to three nearby players, provided that they have Accept Aid toggled on.

When released from a jar, snowy knights behave like potions instead of food. This means that while they share a cooldown of 3 ticks (1.8 seconds) with potions, they do not incur a delay on eating or attacking. This makes them comparable to the utility of Saradomin Brew without a stat penalty.

Catching a snowy knight is a task in the Medium Fremennik Diary. They can be caught anywhere, not just in the Rellekka Hunter area, to complete the task

The hunting technique is the same as for other butterflies. One jar is needed for each butterfly you wish to keep. All of these items are available for purchase in Hunter shops.

You do not require a jar to receive the White butterfly wing for the rumour.
