The chinchompa is a rodent that players can capture with the Hunter skill at level 53 or above and the completion of Eagles' Peak, granting 198.4 Hunter experience. Chinchompas may be assigned as a hunters' rumour task by Guild Hunters Gilman, Cervus, Aco, or Teco.

Catching a chinchompa in the Kourend Woodland is a medium Kourend & Kebos Diary task.

When caught, chinchompas can be used as multi-target stackable Ranged weapons requiring level 45 Ranged to wield, which can hit up to 11 targets in a 3x3 area.

Hunting technique

The hunting technique is the same as for other chinchompas. Players must bring a box trap for each trap they plan to set up. Players can use the same box trap over and over to catch multiple creatures.

Chinchompas can be attacked, but they will explode upon being killed, harming the player if they are standing right next to it for 2 damage. Accidental misclicks may be avoided by wielding a bow with no arrows or adjusting NPC attack options to right-click attack only.

A fast but more click-intensive method of catching chinchompas is the "stand and shoot" method. The player should equip a bow and about 1000+ arrows and find where one chinchompa respawns by killing one and seeing where it reappears. Once the player knows its exact respawn tile, they should surround the tile with their box traps. Then, as the chinchompa appears, it will either enter a trap, or it will dismantle all traps and hop away. If the chinchompa dismantles the traps, the player should immediately kill it with an arrow and set the traps up again as fast as possible. In about three to four seconds, the chinchompa will respawn again, and the player may repeat the process of "standing and shooting" if necessary. This method has been tested to be more experience per hour than the traditional "set-up traps and wait" method.

Hunting chance

The chance of success is approximately 145/255 beginning at level 53, and 268/255 at level 99.[1] The approximate formula for the chance of a successful catch (P) given hunter level (L) is:
