The sapphire glacialis is a butterfly that players can capture with the Hunter skill at level 25 or above, granting 34 Hunter experience. Players with level 35 Hunter can catch them barehanded. Sapphire glacialis may be assigned as a hunters' rumour task by Huntmaster Gilman.

When released from a butterfly jar, or captured without a jar, sapphire glacialis will boost the player's Defence level by 4 + 15% of their Defence level, rounded down. Jarred sapphire glacialis may be used in multicombat areas to share the Defence boost with up to three nearby players, provided that they have Accept Aid toggled on.

As is the case for all other butterflies, the player must be wielding either a butterfly net or a magic butterfly net. If the player's Hunter skill is at least 10 levels above the requirement, they may instead catch the sapphire glacialis barehanded. One jar is needed for each butterfly you wish to keep. Butterfly jars and butterfly nets are available for purchase in Hunter shops.

A good place to catch them is on the second level of the Rellekka Hunter area, near the stairs. There are two spawns close to each other with small wander distances.
