The red salamander is a salamander that players can capture with the Hunter skill at level 59 or above, granting 272 Hunter experience. Red salamanders are found in the Ourania Hunter area near the Khazard Battlefield and on the Charred Island.
Red salamanders may be assigned as a hunters' rumour task by Guild Hunters Gilman, Ornus, Aco, Teco, or Wolf.
Catching one is a requirement for the hard Ardougne Diary.
Captured red salamanders can be used as a two-handed weapon. It requires a level of 60 Ranged, Magic and Attack to wield. To be operated, the red salamander requires its requisite fuel, tarromin tar.

Hunting red salamanders is the same as all other salamanders. Players must bring a rope and small fishing net for each net trap they plan to set up. Clicking on a young tree will set the trap. Players can use the same rope and net over and over to catch multiple creatures. Tarromin tar can be used as bait.
Forester's rations can be utilized to maintain run energy at the southernmost area by chopping the dead tree during downtime.
Multiple traps
Net trapping can be done with multiple traps at once, with the maximum amount of traps depending on the player's Hunter level.
