Irit tar is an item used as food, or "ammunition", for tecu salamanders when used as a weapon. It can be made at level 55 Herblore by using 15 swamp tar on an irit leaf, whilst having a pestle and mortar in the inventory. This process yields 15 irit tar, and grants 85 Herblore experience.

Although the Hunter skill guide in-game states that it can optionally be used as bait for hunting tecu salamanders to increase the catch rate by 3%, this has not actually been implemented.
