The sabre-toothed kyatt is a creature that players can capture with the Hunter skill at level 55 or above with pitfall trapping, granting 300 Hunter experience. Sabre-toothed kyatts may be assigned as a hunters' rumour task by Guild Hunters Gilman, Ornus, Aco, or Teco.
Although sabre-toothed kyatts have a combat level of 60, they are non-attackable. They can however attack players once provoked with a teasing stick or hunter's spear, dealing up to 7 melee damage.
Catching one is a requirement for the Hard Fremennik Diary.
When caught, they can drop kyatt fur or tatty kyatt fur, which can be used to make kyatt hunter gear. Kyatt fur (not tatty kyatt fur) can also be used for upgrading the Medium fur pouch to the Large fur pouch which increases the capacity from 21 furs to 28 furs.

Hunting technique
The hunting technique is the same as for other pitfall trapping. Players must bring a teasing stick, a knife, and any type of logs (except for redwood logs or artic pine logs) to the hunting spot location. By clicking on a pit, the player will create a spiked pit. After this, the player should tease a sabre-toothed kyatt, lure it towards the set up trap, and jump over the trap. If successful, the creature will attempt to walk over the trap, and fall into the pit. If unsuccessful, the creature will jump over the trap and be unable to be caught by the same trap requiring the player to create a second trap in order to catch it. Finally, the player needs to dismantle the trap in order to get rewarded with the loot and Hunter experience. Using a hunter's spear instead of a teasing stick will decrease the chance of the trap being jumped over by 5%, which doesn't consume the spear.
It is advised to bring an axe to the hunter area, since the player could cut dead trees for an unlimited supply of logs while hunting these creatures, and a bonecrusher to automatically bury the big bones. After obtaining 25 Hunters' rumours and reaching level 51 Cooking, the player may bring a tinderbox to cook and eat the Sabre-toothed kyatt, restoring 17 Hitpoints. Players can also catch the Snowy Knight butterflies in the area to restore their hitpoints.
