A snowy knight is a members-only item that is made by catching a snowy knight butterfly with a butterfly jar in their inventory. This requires level 35 Hunter using a (magic) butterfly net and gives 44 experience points. Players with level 45 Hunter can catch them barehanded. These butterflies can be found in Weiss, the Rellekka Hunter area, outside the Farming Guild, or on Mons Gratia.

Once caught, players can right-click "Release" the filled butterfly jar to restore 15 hitpoints. In a multi-combat zone, the item may be used on another player to provide the same healing to them and up to three players within a 5x5 area of the target. Players must have Accept Aid toggled on to receive the healing. The empty butterfly jar will remain in the inventory after use.

With a pestle and mortar, players can combine the jarred butterfly with raw hunter meat to create snowy knight mix (2). Unlike other hunter's mixes, the snowy knight mix has a reduced "per-use" effect than the jarred butterfly, but has a greater overall effect (restoring only 8 hitpoints per use, with a total of 16 across two doses).

When released from a jar, snowy knights behave like potions instead of food. This means that while they share a cooldown of 3 ticks (1.8 seconds) with potions, they do not incur a delay on eating or attacking. This makes them comparable to the utility of Saradomin Brew without a stat penalty. A player releasing snowy knights instead of eating normal foods would heal for 15 hitpoints every 1.8 seconds without losing 75% of an attack with a 4-tick weapon. This can make them the best source of healing for some types of PvP; or a powerful tool for PvE situations where damage is a higher priority than inventory space, such as bossing loot contribution or speed related combat achievements.
