The jar of sand is a rare drop from the Kalphite Queen.

The jar can be used on a boss lair display in a player's Achievement Gallery to have a display of the Kalphite Queen. Doing so requires killing her at least once.

• Using a jar of sand on a jar of dirt will cause a bucket of sand-related sound effect to play and the contents of each jar to swap to the other. This is an easter egg initially hinted at by Mod John C on release, but later confirmed by Mod Ash on twitter 5 years later.^[1]
