A nearby gardener will watch over growing snape grass plants for 5 jangerberries. Fully grown white lilies in a nearby flower patch will also protect the snape grass from disease.

Average harvest yield

Snape grass has a minimum of 3 harvest lives, increasing by 1 for each tier of compost used (for a maximum of 6 when using ultracompost). While harvesting snape grass, there is a chance to not consume a harvest life dependent on the player's Farming level. This chance scales from 58.2% at level 1 to 76.6% at level 99, interpolating linearly in between.

Magic secateurs (equipped or in inventory) increase the chance of receiving additional yield by 10%.

Gielinor's Flora

The plant is described in allotments, Gielinor's Flora volume 4:

Snape grass has a subtle fruity flavour and is often used in teas. When crushed, the leaves emit a fruity smell which can be used to repel some insects, but interestingly has been known to attract bees. Some gardeners claim that planting snape grass will reduce the amount of pests and increase the number of pollinators. However, this has never been officially confirmed. Growing in dense clumps, the blade-like leaves change colour from green to red during changing autumn temperatures.
