Marigold

Marigold is a flower that can be planted in a flower patch at level 2 Farming to yield marigolds, which are used to make imp repellent or as payment to protect hammerstone hops (x1). When fully grown, it protects potato, onion, and tomato plants from disease.

A nearby gardener will not watch over flower crops. It is recommended to use compost when planting them.

Marigolds give 8.5 XP when planted and 47 XP when harvested. It takes 20 minutes to grow. Diseased marigolds may be restored with plant cure or the Lunar spell Cure Plant.

Marigolds produce small orange flowers, with feather-like leaves. These flowers produce a pungent scent that deters many common insect pests. However, due to producing a toxic chemical in the roots, marigolds should not be planted too close to certain crops. Along with repelling insects, marigolds will also repel small herbivores due to their dislike of the smell.
