A bolt pouch allows a player to carry multiple kinds of bolts in one inventory slot, including bolt racks, as well as mith grapples, and swap between two types of bolts mid-combat. It can be purchased for 1,500 from Hirko, who runs the crossbow shop in Keldagrim on the east side of the river. Players must ask Hirko about ammo in order to be given the option to purchase a pouch; it cannot be bought in Hirko's normal shop.

Within the bolt pouch, there are four slots that can each hold 10,000 bolts of a single type, or one mith grapple. To store items in the pouch, players must use them on the pouch. Left-clicking on the pouch will open an interface showing what bolts are in the pouch and what the player has equipped in their ammo and extra ammo slots. Bolts can be moved between slots via left click and dragging.

In addition to storing ammo, the bolt pouch allows players to seamlessly swap between their equipped ammo and one extra ammo slot. This can be done via left click from the Worn Equipment tab without interrupting the player's current action, including attacking enemies. This does not work with non-ammo items, such as Ghommal's penny or Rada's blessing - these items can only be equipped in the primary ammo slot, and switching ammo from the extra slot into the primary slot will unequip them.

If the player has Dizana's quiver equipped or in their inventory it will disable the bolt pouch's functionality to swap between their equipped ammo and the extra ammo in the bolt pouch. The Worn Equipment tab will not show the extra ammo in the bolt pouch—only the ammo in the quiver. If the player attempts to move ammo from the bolt pouch into their ammunition slot using the bolt pouch interface, it will not work, and a message will warn the player You cannot change ammo from your bolt pouch with Dizana's quiver on your person.

Attempting to use an alchemy spell on the bolt pouch fails and results in the message The dwarven pouch resists your magic. appearing in the chatbox.

The bolt pouch is never one of protected items kept in the inventory on death. In PvM death it always goes to the gravestone where it may be reclaimed with its contents preserved. In PvP death, it is always destroyed and its contents are dropped to the killer.

If an Ultimate Ironman loses the bolt pouch on death, either through despawning from a pve deathpile or being wiped from an item retrieval service, its contents will be preserved and can be reclaimed by buying a new bolt pouch from Hirko.

The bolt pouch is not obtainable on Deadman Mode worlds.

Bug:

Despite being bolts, kebbit bolts, long kebbit bolts, sunlight antler bolts, and Moonlight antler bolts cannot be stored in the pouch.
