Small pouches are bags that can hold 3 rune, pure, daeyalt, or guardian essence for use in the Runecraft skill. This item may be initially obtained from the Mage of Zamorak, who provides one free small pouch upon completion of the Enter the Abyss miniquest. If lost, the Mage of Zamorak will not provide players with a replacement; however, the Dark mage in the Abyss will. It is possible to receive a free replacement by contacting the Dark mage via the Astral Contact spell.

The small pouch is the smallest of the five essence pouches.

Unlike the other pouches, the small pouch does not degrade from use.

The pouch is only dropped if the player does not already have one in their inventory or bank.

It is possible to obtain 2 small pouches. One can be obtained as a drop from the Abyssal Area if the player has access to fairy rings and uses the code ALR to teleport there. The Mage of Zamorak will also give the player a second small pouch upon completion of Enter the Abyss. This is only possible before completion of the miniquest.
