A deadfall is a type of trap used in the Hunter skill. Clicking a boulder with a knife or fletching knife and any type of log in the inventory (or a banana when hunting maniacal monkeys) will set the trap. If the prey is successfully caught the boulder will fall on the animal, and the player can check the trap. Unlike most hunter traps, only one deadfall trap can be set up at once, generally resulting in slower experience rates. However, this can be compensated for by catching other nearby hunter creatures while waiting on the deadfall trap.

When deadfall trapping, it is useful to bring an axe to continually resupply with logs, and to wear Kandarin headgear 1 or better for double log yield. When hunting maniacal monkeys in Kruk's Dungeon, a Kruk monkey greegree is required and baskets of bananas are useful for resupplying. Redwood logs and arctic pine logs cannot be used for deadfall traps.

Adding a creature's corresponding bait to a trap will increase the catch rate by +3%, while smoking a trap with a torch will increase the catch rate by +2%.[1] Due to the low increase of the catch rate, this is generally considered not worth the effort. Deadfall traps are not prone to failure by standing where they are set.

Some boulders for setting up deadfall traps can also be seen in an inaccessible area south of Weiss.
