The Giant Mole (Talpidae wysonian^[1]) is a relatively simple boss found in the Mole Hole under Falador Park.

The Giant Mole is notable for its guaranteed mole skin and mole claw drops, which can be traded to Wyson for unique bird nests, one of the only sources of consistent bird nests. These nests may be crushed, creating an ingredient for making Saradomin brews. It is also the source of the immaculate mole skin unique drop, used in creating the gem sack or traded to Wyson for five unique bird nests.

Players may choose to pay 25,000 coins to fight the Giant Mole in an instanced area by the spade at the north-western entrance. This is reduced to 12,500 coins after claiming the rewards from the hard tier of Combat Achievements. This cost is further halved if the player is an ironman.

Killing the Giant Mole once is a hard Falador Diary task.

The Giant Mole is accessed by digging with a spade on top of the mole hills in the Falador Park. A light source is required to navigate the tunnels without taking damage. Candles, torches, or oil lamps will be extinguished if she retreats within melee range. A tinderbox is needed to relight extinguished light sources.

Completion of Making Friends With My Arm unlocks the ability to create the Fire of Eternal Light within the lair, which acts as a permanent unextinguishable light source in the tunnels.

The Giant Mole is initially unaggressive, and will respawn in the centre of the Mole Hole. She has a basic melee attack with a max hit of 21, and no special attacks.

Protect from Melee will negate all damage. She may also be safespotted using the various rocks and cavern walls due to her size.

While between 50% and 5% of her health, every attack from the player has a 25% chance of causing her to burrow into the ground to another area in the lair, losing aggression and forcing players to chase her across the lair. ^[2] This includes attacks that hit a 0, unless it is a magic attack that splashes. Poison damage does not cause her to burrow. Upon burrowing, there is an additional chance of her throwing dirt at the player, which extinguishes open light sources of players within melee distance, such as candles and torches. Closed sources like the bullseye lantern are unaffected.

Having a Falador shield 3 or better in your inventory will allow the player to track the location of the mole with a flashing arrow indicator. The Giant Mole must be killed at least once before this item may be obtained, as it is a reward from the hard Falador Diary.
