Whack-a-Mole is a hard combat achievement which requires the player to kill the Giant Mole within 10 seconds of her resurfacing.
Strategy
The easiest way to complete this achievement is to use a multi-hit weapon that deals damage on separate ticks, as the first hit can cause the mole to dig, applying the second hit immediately when the mole resurfaces. The best option is the Twinflame staff; the mole never digs on splashed magic attacks, so this guarantees a resurface hit on every dig. Some multi-hit special attacks, such as the crystal or dragon halberd, dragon claws, or dragon dagger (p++) also work. Note that a dark bow will not work, as the mole's digging will null the second hit splat. The viability of other multi-hit weapons not listed here has not yet been confirmed.
Another viable option is to use venom or poison. One could time it to use a fast-hitting weapon such as knives right before the venom ticks in an attempt to force the mole to dig. Alternatively, players going for the 25 kill count combat achievement may simply wish to wait and hope to kill the mole after it resurfaces close to them.
