The dragon hunter crossbow is a one-handed crossbow and dragonbane weapon obtained as a possible reward from the Chambers of Xeric, requiring 70 Ranged to wield. It can fire up to and including dragon bolts. The crossbow has an attack range of 7, and the longrange combat style will increase it by 2.

After claiming the hard tier rewards from the Combat Achievements system, the dragon hunter crossbow can be combined with kbd heads to create a black variant. Similarly, a turquoise variant can be made with Vorkath's head after claiming the elite tier rewards.

The dragon hunter crossbow's dragonbane passive effect is its 30% increase in ranged accuracy and 25% increase in damage when fighting draconic creatures, such as dragons and wyverns. However, Elvarg and revenant dragons are not affected by this bonus. This stacks additively with the Slayer helm (i),[1] but multiplicatively with Void Knight equipment and salve amulets.[2]

Other than the dragonbane effect, the dragon hunter crossbow is near identical to the dragon crossbow, but lacking a special attack and having 1 higher ranged bonus.

  • Can only fire bolt racks, which cannot be retrieved by an Ava's device.
  • If worn with the rest of Karil the Tainted's equipment, it offers a set effect which lowers the target's Agility level (only works on players).
  • Wearing an amulet of the damned together with the whole equipment set grants a 25% chance for an attack to hit twice, in which case the second hit will inflict half the damage of the first.
  • Like all Barrows equipment, it degrades and will fully degrade after 15 hours of combat. It is repairable.
Hunters' sunlight crossbow Ranged 66

  • It is also easier to obtain for Ironmen, requiring Fletching 74 Fletching to make. However, Ironmen can only obtain the ammunition via Hunter.
  • Uses Sunlight antler bolts or Moonlight antler bolts as ammunition, giving +55 and +60 ranged strength which are equivalent to Amethyst arrows and Dragon arrows, respectively.

  • Can be imbued with a magic shortbow scroll, increasing its ranged attack bonus to +75 and lowering the special attack cost to 50%.
