The seercull is a Fremennik bow that requires a Ranged level of 50 to wield, and fires arrows up to Amethyst. Compared to a magic shortbow, it has a slower rate of fire and a different special attack which is more effective against mages. In addition, its normal and rapid fire attacks have one more range than that of a shortbow, and its long range attack is equivalent to that of a composite bow. It is a comparable weapon to the Magic comp bow.

The name can be attributed to the combination of the word seer (another word for "mage" or "wizard") and the word cull (another word for "kill"), in other words, the mage-killer. This is a fitting name because of the effect of its special attack and its examine text.

Special attack

A player using the bow's special attack, Soulshot.

The Seercull has a special attack, Soulshot, which consumes 100% of the player's special attack energy. It is guaranteed to hit and lowers the opponent's Magic level equal to damage dealt. However, damage inflicted by Soulshot is only boosted strictly through ammunition and visible range level. Ranged prayers (such as Eagle Eye and Rigour) and all other equipment providing ranged strength, including those with special effects such as any variants of Void Knight equipment, salve amulet, or Slayer helmet, will all have no effect. The special attack will only drain the opponent's Magic level if it is not already reduced; consecutive use of Soulshot or accursed sceptre special attacks will have no effect on their Magic level until the stat has been fully restored, at which point it may be reapplied.[1]

In PvP combat, the special attack gains use for its ability to lower the Magic level of a mage to prevent them from casting spells. However, this can be mitigated by use of super restore potions.

  • Can only fire bolt racks, which cannot be retrieved by an Ava's device.
  • If worn with the rest of Karil the Tainted's equipment, it offers a set effect which lowers the target's Agility level (only works on players).
  • Wearing an amulet of the damned together with the whole equipment set grants a 25% chance for an attack to hit twice, in which case the second hit will inflict half the damage of the first.
  • Like all Barrows equipment, it degrades and will fully degrade after 15 hours of combat. It is repairable.
Hunters' sunlight crossbow Ranged 66

  • It is also easier to obtain for Ironmen, requiring Fletching 74 Fletching to make. However, Ironmen can only obtain the ammunition via Hunter.
  • Uses Sunlight antler bolts or Moonlight antler bolts as ammunition, giving +55 and +60 ranged strength which are equivalent to Amethyst arrows and Dragon arrows, respectively.
