The iron knife is a throwing knife that does not require a Ranged level to wield. It is stronger than a bronze knife but weaker than a steel knife. To create iron knives, the player must have at least 22 Smithing. Each iron bar will create 5 iron knives and give the player 25 Smithing experience. They can be poisoned and can be wielded with a shield or god book for protection.

Throwing knives are among the fastest weapons in the game (along with darts), and are commonly used for PKing or training Ranged. Iron knives can be purchased from Martin Thwait's Lost and Found shop in the Rogues' Den with 50 Thieving and 50 Agility.
