The 3rd age bow is a part of the 3rd age range set. It is a possible reward from elite and master Treasure Trails and cannot be made via the Fletching skill. Requiring 65 Ranged to wield, the 3rd age bow can fire arrows up to dragon arrows at the same speed as that of a shortbow whilst having a longer attack range.

It is considered to be one of the most useful 3rd age equipment pieces; it can be utilised to shoot faraway monsters during Fight Caves and Inferno speed runs and is also valued in the Barbarian Assault attacker role.

This item can be stored in the treasure chest of a costume room, provided that the interface of the corresponding clue tier is opened before attempting to store the item. Alternatively, the item can be used on the opened treasure chest to insert it without viewing the interface.

Wearing an amulet of the damned together with the whole equipment set grants a 25% chance for an attack to hit twice, in which case the second hit will inflict half the damage of the first. Like all Barrows equipment, it degrades and will fully degrade after 15 hours of combat. It is repairable.

Unlike most crossbows, it has an attack speed of 3 on rapid, making it comparable to a Magic shortbow (i) but with a slightly higher range (8 tiles) and accuracy, along with being one-handed. It is also easier to obtain for Ironmen, requiring 74 Fletching to make. However, Ironmen can only obtain the ammunition via Hunter. Uses Sunlight antler bolts or Moonlight antler bolts as ammunition, giving +55 and +60 ranged strength which are equivalent to Amethyst arrows and Dragon arrows, respectively.

• On release, the 3rd age bow was unable to fire dragon arrows due to technical difficulties. With the introduction of the Chambers of Xeric in an update on 5 January 2017, the bow was given the ability to fire dragon arrows.
