Requiring level 65 Defence to wear, it has the third highest defence bonuses of all non-degradable melee helmets, only surpassed by the justiciar faceguard and Torva full helm. The 3rd age full helmet is a possible reward from hard, elite and master tier Treasure Trails and cannot be made through the Smithing skill.

Due to its price, rarity and lack of offensive bonuses, it is rarely used for combat.

This item can be stored in the treasure chest of a costume room, provided that the interface of the corresponding clue tier is opened before attempting to store the item. Alternatively, the item can be used on the opened treasure chest to insert it without viewing the interface.
