The dwarven helmet is obtained as a reward for completing the quest Grim Tales. A Defence level of 50, as well as completion of the quest Grim Tales, is required in order to wear the dwarven helmet.
The dwarven helmet has similar stats to a rune full helm, though it is worth noting that it has a +6 crush attack bonus, making it the third highest for crush attack bonus after the zombie helmet and Inquisitor's great helm. It is also unusual for being a melee helmet with a magic defence bonus.
Additional helmets can be obtained by talking to Rupert the Beard beside Miazrqa's tower, where he was kept prisoner during Grim Tales (between Goblin Village and Ice Mountain), and paying him 60,000 coins. Alternatively, Perdu will return the helmet to players for 115,000 coins.
It is somewhat popular to wear when fighting Vet'ion, Sarachnis, and The Nightmare, due to its cheap cost and crush attack bonus.
Equipping the helmet inside the Dwarven Mine is a requirement for the hard Falador Diary.
