Flattened hides are dropped from the dagannoth found on Waterbirth Island. The hides are dropped by the level 88 ranged variants, found in the Waterbirth Dungeon.

Players may use the hides to create a spined body by bringing one flattened hide, three regular dagannoth hides, and 10,000 to Sigli the Huntsman in Rellekka. Creating the body requires completion of The Fremennik Trials.

It can also be exchanged with Askeladden on Waterbirth Island for cooked tuna before The Fremennik Trials or cooked lobster after the quest.

• If you look closely at the icon of the hide, you will notice some dark shadows, these seem to be a dagannoth's spikes on its back, which means, that most hides dropped from dagannoth are from their back.
