Combat Achievements/Free-to-play

This article contains Combat Achievements that can be completed on free-to-play worlds.

Players without membership cannot claim any rewards or fully complete any tier of the achievements.

Requirements

Completing every available task on free-to-play worlds requires the following:

Items

Giant key to unlock the Obor lair
Mossy key to unlock the Bryophyta lair
Runes for Bind or Snare
Silverlight
Axe, can be obtained during the Bryophyta fight

Skills

40 Prayer for Protect from Missiles
20 Magic for Bind ( 50 recommended for Snare)

Quests

Demon Slayer partial completion up to obtaining Silverlight
The Ides of Milk

Completable tasks

There are 18 tasks in total that can be completed on free-to-play worlds, for a total of 27 combat achievement points.

Kills of Obor and Bryophyta prior to Combat Achievements release will count towards completion of Kill Count tasks which will be updated upon first entering the Combat Achievements interface.

Free-to-play exclusive tasks

There are 2 tasks that must be completed on a free-to-play world.

Free-to-play accessible tasks

There are 16 additional tasks that can be completed on free-to-play worlds, including 8 from the Easy tier, 7 from the Medium tier, and 1 from the Hard tier.

Easy	Obor	Sleeping Giant	Kill Obor whilst he is immobilized.	Mechanical	Nature runes Earth runes Water runes 20 Magic	Elemental staves or a Bryophyta's staff are recommended to save on runes and to improve magic accuracy. Bind, requiring 20 Magic, can be used to complete the challenge, although Snare, requiring 50 Magic, is recommended instead.

Medium	Brutus	Beef vs Beef	Kill Brutus whilst neither equipping nor consuming anything.	Perfection		Potions consumed before Brutus spawns do not fail the combat achievement. Prayer#Prayers may also be used.
Medium	Bryophyta	Quick Cutter	Kill all 3 of Bryophyta's growthlings within 3 seconds of the first one dying.	Mechanical	Axe	An axe is obtainable during the fight. Growthlings can be instantly killed by equipping an axe or magic secateurs and left-clicking on them. They spawn multiple times during the fight, allowing for multiple attempts, but they only need to be killed this way once to complete this task.
Medium	Bryophyta	Bryophyta Champion	Open Bryophyta's chest 5 times.	Kill count
Medium	Obor	Squashing the Giant	Kill Obor without taking any damage off prayer.	Perfection	40 Prayer	Activate Protect from Missiles and use Bind or Snare to avoid melee attacks. Optionally, use Protect from Melee unlocked at 43 Prayer to protect from Obor's melee attacks, although note that keeping distance at all times is a more reliable way to complete the task. Technically completable without Prayer, but it's very diffcult due to Obor's considerable accuracy.
Medium	Obor	Back to the Wall	Kill Obor without being pushed back more than one square by his knockback attack.	Mechanical		Stand against one of the walls. Use Bind or Snare to avoid melee attacks altogether.
Medium	Obor	Obor Champion	Open Obor's chest 5 times.	Kill count
Hard	Brutus	Smarter than a Cow	Kill Brutus without being attacked.	Mechanical		Brutus can be safespotted. Be aware that after several seconds out of melee range, Brutus will either use his charge attack or pathfind around obstacles to reach you.

Uncompletable tasks

The following tasks are related to free-to-play monsters or bosses, but cannot be completed in the free-to-play worlds.

Elite	Brutus	Brutus Speed-Trialist	Kill Brutus in less than 2 seconds.	Speed	It is not possible to deal enough damage to complete this achievement in the free-to-play worlds.

All remaining tasks require access to members-only content.

Trivia

Every task related to Obor and greater demons can be completed without membership.
Not all tasks can be completed without access to protection prayers. Protection from Moss is locked behind Protect from Magic, while Squashing the Giant requires at least Protect from Missiles to reliably complete the task.

Changes

25 February 2026 (Update)	5 new achievements were added along with a new boss, Brutus, 4 of which can be completed on a free-to-play world: Brutus Novice Brutus Champion Beef vs Beef Smarter than a Cow
25 June 2025 (Update)	Obor and Bryophyta no longer require a giant key or a mossy key respectively to be fought each time. However, the first encounter with each of them will still require a key as a means to permanently unlock access to each boss.
4 August 2021 (Update)	The number of kills required to complete the Bryophyta Champion task was reduced from 10 to 5. The number of kills required to complete the Obor Champion task was reduced from 10 to 5.
28 July 2021 (Update)	Not So Great After All can now be completed with Silverlight and other demonbane weapons rather than just Arclight. This task is now completable on a free-to-play world. Squashing the Giant now requires never taking damage from Obor without the appropriate protection prayer rather than taking no damage at all during the entire fight.
