Smarter than a Cow is a hard combat achievement which requires the player to kill Brutus without being attacked.
Strategy
You will not be able to complete this Combat Achievement if Brutus has successfully attacked you once, even if he does not deal any damage.
As Brutus cannot be flinched, he must be safespotted with Ranged, Magic, or a halberd for the kill. The plant near his spawn will work as a safespot, as well as the warning sign near the gate, troughs around the sides of the pen, a rock in the southern part of the cow field, etc.
Be aware that after several seconds out of melee range, Brutus will either use his charge attack or pathfind around obstacles to reach you. Being hit with the charge attack will fail the achievement. To avoid this, be ready to move out of the way and re-safespot Brutus when his overhead text appears. *growls* indicates he is going to use his charge attack, while *huff* indicates he will pathfind to you.
It is possible to get the achievement without safespotting by kiting Brutus--that is, hitting him from a distance and running away such that he never is able to perform a melee attack. However, this is much more difficult to execute properly than the safespot method.
This achievement can be completed simultaneously with Brutus Speed-Trialist, as killing Brutus in under 2 seconds won't give him time to retaliate.
