Bellock, the crazy archaeologist, is a relatively simple boss that resides in the ruins south of The Forgotten Cemetery within level 23 Wilderness. His special attack mechanic is similar to that of the Deranged archaeologist and the Chaos Fanatic.
The crazy archaeologist is notable for dropping one of the three shards that form the malediction ward and odium ward, with the Chaos Fanatic and Scorpia dropping the other pieces. Killing all three at least once is a hard Wilderness Diary task.
He is also a popular source for the rune crossbow, particularly amongst low to mid-level ironmen.
On a crazy archaeologist boss Slayer task, the deranged archaeologist may be killed as an alternative, unless the Wilderness is specified as the task location when given by Krystilia or Konar quo Maten.
Location

The fastest way to get to the crazy archaeologist is by using the spell Dareeyak Teleport from the Ancient Magicks spellbook with 78 Magic or a Dareeyak teleport tablet. Alternatives include:
- Rub a burning amulet to teleport to the Bandit Camp, just east of the ruins.
- Cast Trollheim Teleport (61 Magic), and then use the agility shortcut (64 Agility) that connects to the Wilderness.
- The Cemetery Teleport (71 Magic) on the Arceuus spellbook is also quite close.
Fight overview
The crazy archaeologist is located in single-way combat, meaning the player will be safe from player killers while in active combat with the boss.
He attacks primarily with Ranged, only using Melee if the player is next to him. Protect from Ranged and Protect from Melee will nullify each respective attack.
Periodically, he will yell before launching a special attack, throwing three books in an arc towards the player that explode in a 3x3 area. After exploding, one of the books will split into two more books on impact, with these also exploding nearby after a delay. This attack can deal large amounts of burst damage if not avoided!
Fighting from a distance will prevent him from using any melee attacks, allowing the use of Protect from Ranged to nullify all damage from his basic attacks, as well as giving the player more time to move away from his special attack.
Magic is particularly effective against the boss, as despite his high base Magic defence, he has a negligible Magic level; Magic defence is primarily based on one's Magic level.[1]
