The abyssal dagger is the most powerful dagger in the game and requires 70 Attack to wield. Players have a 13/64 (~20.3%) chance of receiving an abyssal dagger when using an unsired on the Font of Consumption at the centre of the Abyssal Nexus, giving it effectively a chance of 1/492 (~0.20%) per Abyssal Sire kill. Players also have a 1/32,000 (~0.003%) chance of receiving an abyssal dagger as a drop from abyssal demons.

The abyssal dagger has the same strength bonus as the Zamorakian hasta, but is generally considered the inferior stab weapon due to its 10 less stab accuracy, no Prayer bonus and no defensive stats. However, the hasta's combat styles are limited to defensive and controlled (shared). While set to aggressive, the dagger can achieve one additional max hit. As with most daggers, it can be poisoned.

It surpasses the staff of the dead in both Strength and accuracy, with +5 Attack bonus, and +3 Strength bonus over the staff. Players should note that the abyssal dagger is primarily a stab weapon, while the staff of the dead is primarily a slash weapon.

It can be upgraded to the abyssal dagger (bh) with the use of an abyssal dagger imbue scroll, which increases its stab attack bonus by 10 and lowers the damage reduction of its special attack from 15% to 5%. However, the upgraded version can only be used for Pking in the Bounty Hunter minigame.

The abyssal dagger has a special attack, Abyssal Puncture, which hits twice in quick succession with a 25% increase in accuracy and 15% reduced damage, consuming 25% of the player's special attack energy. A single attack roll is performed, meaning that either both hits are successful, or both hits miss. The damage calculation rolls against the opponent's slash defence.

The highest the dagger can possibly hit with its special attack is 45-45 against players and 50-50 while using a salve amulet (e) against undead creatures. The abyssal dagger's special attack is notably weaker than the dragon dagger's; this is evident when comparing the abyssal dagger's max hit of 45-45, to the dragon dagger's max hit of 50-50. However, it is more accurate against higher defence monsters due to its higher attack bonuses. This makes it a more accurate option at the cost of max hits.

• The abyssal dagger is one of only five daggers held with its blade pointing down; the other four are keris, the dragon dagger, the hunting knife, and the killer's knife.
• The examine text for the abyssal dagger references it being from the body of the Abyssal Sire, despite the fact that it can technically be obtained as a drop from normal abyssal demons.
