The dragon platebody is an armour used in melee and the strongest of all standard platebodies. It requires 60 Defence and completion of the quest Dragon Slayer I to equip.

It offers some of the highest bonuses of any non-degradable armour in the game, providing higher slash and stab defence than the Bandos chestplate. For melee use it is a direct upgrade to the dragon chainbody in every stat except crush, with the chainbody having +1 crush defence more than the platebody. Despite its high defensive bonuses however, the dragon platebody lacks a strength bonus, making it less commonly used for general melee training.

Players with level 90 Smithing can make one by using a dragon chainbody, dragon metal lump, and dragon metal shard at the Dragon Forge, granting 2,000 experience.

A dragon platebody ornament kit, obtained from master clue scrolls, can be attached to create a gold-trimmed dragon platebody (g). This is only cosmetic, and does not affect the platebody's stat bonuses. It can be dismantled, returning the platebody and ornament kit.

It is considered a piece of the dragon armour set.
