Miscellania is an island kingdom in the Northern Ocean, north-west off the coast of the Fremennik Province. It was formed as a colony by Fremenniks who split off from the Fremennik people of the mainland due to cultural differences a long time ago, but has since become independent. It lies directly west of the island kingdom of Etceteria, accessible via a bridge link.

The island kingdoms of Miscellania and Etceteria are the focus of two quests, Throne of Miscellania and Royal Trouble. Prior to the player intertwining themselves in the affairs of the two islands, currently ruled by King Vargas of Miscellania and Queen Sigrid of Etceteria respectively, the two kingdoms had been at war, despite neither side having an army.

The islands are unique in that after the completion of Throne of Miscellania, the islands may be managed by the player, a recurring activity/reward called Managing Miscellania. This involves maintaining a favour level by performing favours for the island and giving gold to their coffers. In return, the citizens of Miscellania will passively gather certain types of resources for you. After completion of Royal Trouble, the citizens of Etceteria will also work for you, increasing productivity.

• A boat off of the second most western dock in northern Rellekka sails to and from the dock on Miscellania. Using this boat requires the completion of the quest The Fremennik Trials.
• There is a Fairy ring (code CIP) to the north-west on Miscellania, which requires the completion of The Fremennik Trials in order to use.
• After Throne of Miscellania, you can teleport to Miscellania using Ring of wealth.
• A spirit tree can be grown in the spirit tree patch on Etceteria, provided that the relevant quest and Farming level requirements have been met to grow and use it.

There is a bank on the north-east side of the neighbouring island of Etceteria.

A usable anvil can be found to the north of Miscellania.

There are fish and vegetable stalls in the courtyards of the Miscellanian castle which sell a variety of fishing gear, raw sardines and common vegetables: the Greengrocer of Miscellania and Island Fishmonger. Mixed flowers can be bought from Flower Girl in the castle courtyard for 15gp each.

Vast wheat, potato and cabbage fields can be found on the southern side of Miscellania. Anything collected from them will be directly obtained by the player and not count towards increasing popularity. If wheat is taken from the wheat field, the Farmer tending to it will respond by saying "Oi! Leave my wheat alone!" However, this has no negative affect on popularity.

There is a stepping stones shortcut from the Miscellania docks to Etceteria to the south east.

The Miscellanian side of the Miscellanian and Etceterian Dungeon (which can only be accessed once the player is permitted to do so during the Royal Trouble quest) contains the small Fremennik settlement expansion, which consists of many additional shops, those being:

• The Miscellanian Clothes Shop, selling a variety of unique Fremennik and Dwarven clothing.
• The Miscellanian Food Shop, selling mostly common food items.
• The Miscellanian General Store, selling items common to most general stores.
• The Esoterican Arms, a bar selling the rare Cider as one of its drink options.

Directly north of the shops are a bronze pickaxe spawn (indicated by a rock with the option "Take-pickaxe Rocks") and small coal mine, the pickaxes and coal being obtainable by the player.

The caves also have many Sea Snake Hatchlings and Sea Snake Youngs the player can fight on the Etceterian side of the caves.

Once the Throne of Miscellania quest has been completed, the player becomes Prince or Princess Regent of the island of Miscellania. The citizens of Miscellania will then work, if funded properly and if the player's popularity is high enough, to gather a variety of resources.

Resource gathering and the funding of it can be managed through Advisor Ghrim, who resides in the throne room in the castle on Miscellania.

If the subsequent quest Royal Trouble has been completed, the Kingdom of Etceteria will also begin working for the player.

Almost all resources the player collects on the island will be sent directly to the citizens of the island, increasing the popularity of the player for having done so. Resources can only be obtained on Miscellania through kingdom management, buying them from shops, the bush patch on Etceteria, the wheat and vegetable fields on the southern part of Miscellania, and the Miscellania and Etceteria Dungeon.

• The name "Miscellania" is a play on the word "miscellanea".
• The Etceterian dungeon entrance prevents players from walking around the outside of the castle along its eastern wall. Players who are walking from the north can bypass this by entering the dungeon and immediately leaving it, as they will reappear south of the entrance. Players wishing to walk in the other direction cannot use this trick as exiting the dungeon always places the player on the south side of the entrance.
• In Throne of Miscellania, King Vargas claims Miscellania has been at war with Etceteria for hundreds of years, whereas Princess Astrid claims the war was started more recently after being insulted by Queen Sigrid of Etceteria. It is likely that King Vargas was exaggerating, as Hamal the Chieftain's dialogue when Miscellania is brought up to him suggests that he was alive at the time Fremennik colonies were formed on the two islands, indicating that it's not possible for them to have been at war for hundreds of years.
  • However, the Burnt diary in Royal Trouble suggests those living on the mainland do believe the two kingdoms have been at war for hundreds of years, suggesting that King Vargas may not have been exaggerating.
