The Northern Ocean is one of Gielinor's nine oceans. It is bounded by the Forgotten Ocean and Kourend to the west, the Western Ocean, Kandarin and the Fremennik Province to the south, and Troll Country and the Untamed Ocean to the east.

The Northern Ocean is divided into fourteen seas. The majority of the ocean is hazardous under the icy seas. To safely traverse this hazard, the player's boat must have an eternal brazier, which is unlocked at 78 Sailing^[b].

Islands include Brittle Isle, Etceteria, Grimstone, Iceberg, Island of Stone, Jatizso, Lunar Isle, Miscellania, Netiznot, Pirates' Cove, The Graveyard, Ungael and Waterbirth Island.

Vesmjos, Dvergfjord, and the River Crannmor flow into the Northern Ocean.

The Northern Ocean is divided into fourteen seas:

With the Sailing skill, players can dock their boats at nine points in the Northern Ocean.

There are two new islands in the Northern Ocean unlockable through Sailing. After docking at an island for the first time, some islands have alternative transportation options available such as spirit trees and fairy rings.
