The Ancient Furnace is a furnace in Grimstone Dungeon that smelts cannonballs at double speed (5 ticks instead of 10).

It can be accessed by first mooring on Grimstone with 87 Sailing. The nearby fairy ring, code DLP, becomes usable once the player has moored on Grimstone at least once.

Using the quest point cape for a fast fairy ring teleport and a sailors' amulet for fast banking, as well as the double ammo mould, players can expect to smith approximately 1500 bars an hour here to create 6000 cannonballs. With this method, a full loop takes roughly 100 ticks, with 65 ticks AFK while smelting, and the remaining dedicated to banking and teleporting.

With Isles standing next to the furnace after initially leading him there once, it is possible to exchange noted bars in the inventory for steel bars much faster, allowing players to smith approximately 2150 bars per hour to create 8600 cannonballs. Considering that there are no special requirements for this, it is strongly recommended to bring Isles to Grimstone over using a traditional banking method. A conversion fee of 100 coins per bar is required by Isles, which breaks down to 25 coins per smelted cannon ball using this method.

The following money making guide is available for Ancient Furnace:

• The furnace has a similar design to the Sacred Forge within Ruins of Camdozaal and forge within Cam Torum. Additionally, two dwarf skeletons can be found nearby the furnace, suggesting that the furnace is of Imcando dwarf design.
• An ancient mould can be found nearby, suggesting the Ancient Pillar or similar objects may have once been made here.
• The initial poll blog said the Ancient Furnace would be located on Brittle Isle. With the release of Sailing, however, it was moved to Grimstone.
