A raft is a tiny boat that can be purchased from a shipwright for 1,000 coins. One is provided to the player as part of the Pandemonium quest.

Rafts consist of a wood base, helm, and mast and sails, which provide hitpoints, speed, defence, and resistance stats, which can be upgraded with better materials. Flags and an eternal brazier can also be built on a raft. Additionally, rafts have one facility hotspot which can be used to build certain facilities; however, the selection of buildable facilities is limited, and as such is generally reserved for a cargo hold.

Aside from very early Sailing training for courier tasks and sea charting, rafts do not garner much use once players reach level 15 Sailing, at which point a skiff can be purchased. Additionally, because keels and crewmates are not available on rafts, alongside the limit of a single facility slot, rafts are a poor choice for any other activity at sea.

However, a raft's base is built with unprocessed logs rather than hull parts made from planks, and does not require the use of nails. This makes rafts easier to upgrade, although this is mostly done to speed up travel time for certain sea charting tasks, as some are found in narrower bodies of water that are difficult or impossible to reach with larger boats.

Core boat parts are built by using the boat schematics board, which affect the boat's stats and speed. Players with the required materials, but without the required levels, may pay a fee to have them built instead; however, this can only be done for parts using mithril and mahogany.

Hulls (referred to as bases for the raft) provide hitpoints, and defence stats for boat combat. They also provide the base speed that determines how fast the boat will travel per tick without trimmed sails.

Helms provide resistance to rapids and allows players to use them as speed boosts rather than take boat damage.

Masts and sails will increase the duration of a speed boost when trimming sails.

Flags are cosmetics that shows the player has cleared the Marlin rank of a Barracuda Trial. They can be added with the required materials, and Sailing and Construction levels, at the boat schematics board in the Shipyard.

An eternal brazier enables a boat to safely traverse the icy seas in the Northern Ocean. It can be added with the required materials, and Sailing and Construction levels, at the boat schematics board in the Shipyard.

Rafts have one facility hotspot available to build any of the following facilities:

• Cargo hold
• Cannon
• Salvaging hook
• Wind catcher or gale catcher
• Range
• Keg
• Teleport focus or greater teleport focus

A raft is required for certain sea charting tasks as only they can fit into narrow bodies of water that are otherwise difficult or impossible to reach with larger boats.
