Merchant's paint is a type of boat paint used to recolour the trim of a player's skiff or sloop via the boat schematics board at the Shipyard. Trimming a boat requires level 25 Sailing and 20 Construction, granting 10 Construction experience. One paint is required for trimming skiffs, while sloops require two.
Merchant's paint is obtained by talking to Trader Stan and giving him all 5 different tradeable paints at once:

Since the Salvor's paint can only be obtained from martial salvage at mercenary shipwrecks, the minimum boostable Sailing level required to obtain the merchant's paint as an ironman is 73 Sailing.
