Rock Island Prison

Rocking Out is a quest originally released in RuneScape 2 on 11 June 2008, ten months after the August 2007 archive from which Old School RuneScape was created. Assets from the quest were backported into Old School RuneScape and exist in the June 2025 Sailing Beta cache but the content was not accessible.

Development history

Rocking Out was released on 11 June 2008, ten months after the version of the game recovered from the August 2007 archive from which Old School RuneScape was created, and as a result, it is not present in Old School RuneScape. It is the fourth quest in the pirate quest series and it, like the first three, was developed by Mod Wilson.

After the quest Land of the Goblins was backported into Old School RuneScape on 9 February 2022, Jagex surveyed players asking how supportive they were in backporting other quests from RuneScape 3 released between 2007 and 2011. Rocking Out was included in the survey along with A Clockwork Syringe. Mod Ed noted that "Rocking Out would likely work well with only minor changes, but we’d need to remove the Dungeoneering element from A Clockwork Syringe for it to work in Old School."[1] While the two pirate quests received the lowest support of the seven options, 72% of players felt positive about the idea of backporting them.[2] Mod Ed said "all of them [survey options] were actually super popular".[3]

Assets from the quest were backported into Old School RuneScape and exist in the June 2025 Sailing Beta cache but the content was not accessible. This included the locations Rock Island Prison where much of the original quest takes place, and the Cursed Archipelago which is referenced in the original quest.
