Ducks are small animals that can be found in rivers or lakes. They are a fairly good way to start training the Magic skill with low-level Curse spells and even Strike spells.

If ducks are next to the shore, it is possible to hit with a long-range melee weapon such as a halberd; however, it is uncommon for them to be there with the exception of the Fishing Guild docks, Falador Park, and the River Lum in Lumbridge.

For melee it is possible to use a halberd, even though Ranged or Magic is most reliable. Ammunition will be lost if the ducks are not on land.

It is possible to use non long-range melee the ducks at the Fishing Guild's docks.

• The colours of ducks are similar to those found on real-life mallards.
• Singular Ducklings or a group of Ducklings will only follow female ducks. Occasionally, the female duck will say: Quack?, to which any following ducklings respond with: Eep!. If the female duck they're following is killed, the ducklings will say: Cheep cheep!, followed by: Eep! and attempt to swim away.
• During the 2021 Christmas event, variant ducks and drakes were used in Falador. These variants wore Santa hats, walked around the frozen White Knights' Castle moat and Falador Park puddles, and were unattackable. One female duck in the park was also replaced during this time.
